The 2025 Soft Law Summit, co-hosted by the GW Regulatory Studies Center and presented by BBB National Programs’ Center for Industry Self-Regulation (CISR), brings together industry leaders, academics, and policy makers to examine how the challenges and opportunities for America's business sectors can be addressed by independent and effective industry self-regulation, a type of “soft law.”

Each year, panel discussions and research presented provide speakers and attendees with the opportunity for timely and relevant debate on today’s pressing public policy and regulatory issues in an objective setting.

The Soft Law Summit is a full-day event including breakfast, lunch, and a networking reception.

The Summit will examine:

  • Addressing emerging challenges in the governance of artificial intelligence
  • Soft law as a guiding star: navigating regulatory upheaval through industry self-regulation
  • A case study: Arizona State University College of Law’s pilot of the nation’s first graduate-level soft law course
  • What has changed since the SCOTUS Loper Bright decision and the end of Chevron deference
  • Managing complex regulatory environments – blueprint strategies from high-stakes industries
